Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1 Arrive Beijing

Upon arrival at Beijing Airport, transfer to your hotel in the city for check-in. The rest of the day is free at leisure to rest or explore at your own pace.

Day 2 Beijing – Zhangjiakou

After breakfast, visit Dajing Gate, a historic section of the Great Wall built during the Ming Dynasty. Once a key military outpost, it served as an important gateway between the central plains and the northern steppes. After sightseeing, continue to Zhangjiakou and check in at your hotel.

Day 3 Zhangjiakou – Datong

Today, explore Nine-Dragon Wall, a beautifully carved and glazed screen wall depicting nine dragons. Visit Huayan Temple, one of China’s most important and well-preserved Buddhist temples dating back to the 11th century. Continue to Datong Ancient City Wall, a grand Ming-era fortification that once defended the northern frontier. Later, transfer to Datong for hotel check-in.

Day 4 Datong – Hohhot

This morning, discover the world-renowned Yungang Grottoes, a UNESCO site with over 50 caves and more than 51,000 Buddha statues carved into the rock during the Northern Wei Dynasty. Afterwards, travel to Hohhot in Inner Mongolia and check into your hotel.

Day 5 Hohhot – Xilamuren

Begin the day at the Princess Mansion, a Qing Dynasty estate built for a Mongolian princess. Today, venture into the Yinken Tala Desert, a stunning expanse of golden dunes under vast blue skies, often referred to as the “Silver World.” Experience local traditions with a hands-on Chinese paper-cutting workshop, part of China’s intangible cultural heritage. Return to Ordos for an overnight stay.

Day 8 Ordos – Yulin

In the morning, visit the Kangbashi District, a modern planned city known for its futuristic architecture. Continue to the Mausoleum of Genghis Khan, a symbolic shrine honoring the great Mongolian leader. Afterwards, transfer to Yulin and check in at your hotel.

After breakfast, explore Tongwancheng, the ruins of an ancient capital city dating back to the early 5th century. Once the seat of the Hu Xia dynasty, the site offers fascinating insight into northern China’s early history. Return to Yulin for an overnight stay.
