Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1 Arrive Ashgabat

Arrive at Ashgabat International Airport . After a warm greeting, visit the UNESCO -listed Nissa Fortress, an ancient capital and royal sanctuary of the Parthian Kings. In the afternoon, view the iconic landmarks including the Wedding Palace, Yyldyz Hotel, Ferris Wheel, Constitution Monument, Arch of Neutrality, Independence Park, Ertogrul Gazi Mosque, and Olympic Stadium. Overnight in Ashgabat.

Day 2 Ashgabat – Anau – Abiwerd - Mary

Following breakfast, depart for Mary (4 hours). En route, stop at Anau to view the historic ruins of the 15th – century Seyitjemalledin Mosque and visit Abiwerd, an ancient Silk Road trading hub. Upon arrival in Mary, tour the city’s main downtown highlights, the lively Mary Bazaar, and one of Turkmenistan’s oldest Russian Orthodox churches. Overnight in Mary.

Day 3 Mary – Ancient Merv - Ashgabat

After breakfast, drive to Ancient Merv, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and legendary Silk Road capital. Explore historical highlights including the Kyz Gala fortresses, Askhabs Complex, Erk Gala, Gyaur Gala, and the Sultan Sanjar Mausoleum. Conclude with a visit to the Mary History Museum before driving back to Ashgabat (4 –5 hours). Overnight in Ashgabat.

Day 4 Ashgabat – Nokhur - Balkanabat

Travel via 4×4 vehicles into the Kopetdag Mountains to Nokhur village for a home -hosted lunch and cultural experience, exploring its unique goat -horn cemetery and the Kyz Bibi pilgrimage cave. Continue through the Syunt-Khasardag Nature Reserve via Karrykala to admire the otherworldly “Moon Mountains” landscape before reaching Balkanabat. Overnight in Balkanabat. Day 5 Balkanabat – Gozli Ata - Turkmenbashi

After breakfast, visit the sacred Gozli -Ata pilgrimage site en route to the stunning Yangykala Canyons (“Fire Fortress”), famous for its vibrant red, yellow, and white rock formations. Spend time exploring the dramatic canyons before driving to the coastal city of Turkmenbashi. Overnight in Turkmenbashi.

Day 6 Turkmenbashi – Ashgabat

Catch a morning domestic flight back to Ashgabat and visit the Turkmen Carpet Museum, home to a record – breaking 301 m² hand -woven carpet. In the afternoon, drive into the Karakum Desert via Yerbent village to witness the burning Darvaza Gas Crater, along with nearby mud and water craters. Enjoy a traditional barbecue dinner and spend the night in a yurt camp.

Day 7 Davanza - Ashgabat

Enjoy a picnic breakfast at camp before driving back to Ashgabat for noon check -in. In the afternoon, explore the vast collection at the National Museum of History & Ethnography, followed by a visit to the hilltop Halk Hakydasy Memorial Complex to learn about the country’s wartime history and the 1948 earthquake. Overnight in Ashgabat.

Day 8 Ashgabat – Arkadag – Gokdepe - Ashgabat

Pass through Arkadag “smart city” to Gokdepe to see famous Akhal -Teke horses at a local stable, visit the historic Gokdepe Fortress, and explore Saparmyrat Hajy Mosque. Enjoy a hands -on cultural experience and lunch with a local family, learning to weave carpets and cook traditional dishes. On the way back, stop at the Turkmenbashi Ruhi Mosque and Mausoleum before wrapping up the day at Gulistan Bazaar. Overnight in Ashgabat.

Day 9 Depart Ashgabat

After breakfast, followed by check -out by 12:00 PM. Transfer to the airport for departure, taking home sweet memories of the trip.
