Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1 Arrive Christchurch - Omaru
Depart Christchurch and head south along the Pacific Coast, stopping at Moeraki Boulders to marvel at the perfectly round, ancient stones scattered across Koekohe Beach. Continue to Oamaru, known for its Victorian architecture and quirky charm. Visit Steampunk HQ, an eccentric museum filled with mechanical art installations. In the evening, don’t miss the Oamaru Blue Penguin Colony for a magical dusk viewing of the world’s smallest penguins returning to shore.

Day 2 Omaru - Dunedin
Enjoy a short scenic drive to Dunedin, with an optional detour to the Otago Peninsula, where you may spot royal albatross and sea lions along the coast. Visit Larnach Castle as optional, New Zealand’s only castle, to explore its historic rooms and vibrant gardens. Then challenge yourself with a walk-up Baldwin Street, the steepest residential street in the world. Day 3 Dunedin - Te Anau

Day 4 Te Anau - Milford Sound - Queenstown
Depart early for a stunning drive along the Milford Road to Milford Sound, one of New Zealand’s most iconic natural wonders. Take a Milford Sound Cruise to experience sheer cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and possible encounters with seals and dolphins. After the cruise, begin your journey to Queenstown, arriving by evening.
Day 5 Queenstown
Enjoy a full free day to explore Queenstown’s many attractions. Cruise across Lake Wakatipu on the TSS Earnslaw, a historic steamship, or visit the Kiwi Birdlife Park to see native wildlife, including the elusive kiwi bird. For thrill-seekers, optional bungy jumping and jet boating are available.

Day 6 Queenstown - Lake Tekapo
